Monday, August 8, 2011 - The Look of Love

"When He saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. "
Matthew 9:36
What does Love look like? Love's Hands are scarred from gripping the sacrifice necessary to lift us out of the dust of mortality and the dirt of sin.  Love wears wounded Feet from sticking to the necessary path for my sake, for your sake. Love's Eyes meet the eyes of those who cry out to Him and cry with them, not in despair but in unrestrained compassion.  His Eyes open the window of Hope and Help for us when we take time to lose ourselves in their depths. Love's Brow is pricked with painful reminders of people who not only rejected Him as the Son of God, but who abused Him as the Son of Man. Love's Side is broken open to prove He gave His last drop of Life to cover us with the only thing we ever really needed, His blood.
Lord, it's obvious how little we Love when we look at how much Love has given us and keeps giving us. Re-ignite our compassion for people. Keep us from insulating ourselves from hurts, needs, and hopelessness.  Help us trust You to work in and through us to bring Hope where Hope no longer lives. Remind us we're "little Christs," called to love each other as You love us, then fill Your people to give from full hearts. Forgive us for being self-centered when You call us to live to give. You've freed us to love the unloving, now help us do it for Your Name's Sake. We want the look of Love.
In the Name of Jesus, Shepherd for the hurting, Healer for the sick, Love among us!

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap;"
Psalm 113:7

"Now about brotherly love we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other."
1 Thessalonians 4:9

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13
