Friday, October 1 - "De-li-laaaaaah!"

I've nicknamed our real estate agent "Delilah," not after the biblical hairdresser but after the national radio personality. Have you listened to her warm and fuzzy radio voice that lulls you into relaxing as she plays dedications to loved ones? Sigh.

We chose our Delilah based on testimony. She's a go-getter who lists on hundreds of sites and she does things a little differently than other realtors. For instance, instead of a business card, she provides a pretty bookmark with a comforting quote about her sales philosophy.

What we really appreciate about Delilah is the way our home has become her home, too. For instance, when asking about this house she asked, "Is our backyard fenced?" "Is our fireplace wood-burning or gas?" Now, it's a different story when a nurse asks "How are we feeling today?" because I don't know how she feels so I can't answer the question without sounding like a smart aleck.  But I digress. . . .

Delilah arrived the same evening we first called her. We didn't expect such a quick response so she saw the inside of the house in re-modeling mode (a mess) but she looked past all that to the bones and potential. She observed and stated what needed to change and relieved us from some unnecessary projects on our list. She complimented our hard work and the changes we had already made. She brought a packet of materials to guide us through the initial phases and took time to walk us through its contents. She set goals with us (not for us).  When she left, we were smiling with hope and had a plan to market a house in a bad market. More importantly, we had a partner to share a load which had lightened considerably over the evening.

We have a Savior who calls us to listen to His soothing Voice and follow His lead. He's an expert at anything we need. He has a vested interest in our souls, our witness. He doesn't dump a ton of expectations on us and leave us to wrestle through them. It's His temple He's helping us improve. He sees beyond our mess to who we can be when we let Him lead. He relieves us from drivenness and stress by removing unnecessary "to-do's" from our list. He's changed billions of lives and is an expert at what He does. He thinks of what we could never imagine and gives us hope and peace of mind that we're in Good Hands.

Lord of lords and King of kings, robed in splendor and holiness, yet living in our hearts, we praise You for Your expert ways. We praise You for calling us friends and working with us instead of gloating over us and inflicting additional burdens on us. Thank You that Your Voice soothes and comforts, bringing rest and hope. We can't see You but we can hear You whispering encouragement. You never leave us alone to carry burdens beyond our ability but call us to rest in Your ability. We weary ourselves unnecessarily when all You want is our full attention. Guide us to worship You by resting in Your loving promises, demonstrating faith in Your God-ness and Love.

In the name of Jesus who said we are One with Him and the Father

"which God will bring about in His own time--God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light, whom no one has seen or can see. To Him be honor and might forever. Amen." 1 Timothy 6:15-16

"'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,' declares the LORD. 'As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
