Divas Fall Harder

Don't need divas in my life - how about you?  I read an article about 15 divas from the entertainment and sports worlds who pitched fits or broke rules on airplanes because . . . well, because they're divas who think the rules don't apply to them.  Each "diva" (male or female) was either removed from the airplane (one pilot taxied back to the terminal to drop off an inebriated actor who urinated in the aisle), or arrested when the plane landed.

No one will get special treatment when God asks us why He should allow us to spend eternity with Him.  Only Christ's death pays what we owe for our sin. If we could get into heaven based on the good we do, how sweet we are, how talented we are, how we stack up compared to other people, or on our pedigree, then heaven would be a pride-filled place and God hates pride so much that He ejected Satan, the ultimate diva, from heaven.

Jesus called us to show our love for Him by doing what He taught us to do: love others (enemies, too), pray for our persecuters, serve others sacrificially, sit at the foot of the table, get in the back of the line, give more than we're asked for, and go farther than we're asked to go.  This is how people see the Holy Spirit in us instead of seeing us.  This is how they know Who God is and are drawn to Him.

Don't seat me next to a diva on an airplane, please.  The higher they perch the harder they fall.

“If you love me, show it by doing what I’ve told you. I will talk to the Father, and He’ll provide you another Friend so that you will always have someone with you. This Friend is the Spirit of Truth. The godless world can’t take Him in because it doesn’t have eyes to see Him, doesn’t know what to look for. But you know him already because he has been staying with you, and will even be in you!"  John 14:14-16

“Ask, and it will be given to you. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened to you. Everyone who asks will receive. He who searches will find. The door will be opened to the one who knocks." Matthew 7:7   Lord, God, thank You for knowing that asking You for what we need keeps us from developing diva attitudes about what we have. Every good gift comes from You. We have nothing without You. Gracious Lord, help us humble ourselves by comparing ourselves with You, with Your Son.  Thank You for covering us with the protection of Your Son's Sacrifice.  We were unworthy of Your time or attention but You made us Your heirs. Bless the Lord, o my soul!
In the Name of Jesus, Morning Star, King of Heaven and Earth
