- J.I. Packer, Knowing GodWhere do we invite Him to sit?
How do we honor God's divine majesty today?
*On a rocking chair because we see Him as an old God who's lost some of His "umph?"
*On a stool at our feet so He's handy to serve us by answering small prayers?
*On an office swivel chair so He can keep up with our busy schedules and obligations?
*Or, seated and commanding on a throne fit for the King of kings and Lord of Lords?
"I exalt You, my God the King, and praise Your name forever and ever.
I will praise You every day; I will honor Your name forever and ever.
Yahweh is great and highly praised; His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation will declare Your works to the next and will proclaim Your mighty acts.
I will speak of Your splendor and glorious majesty and Your wonderful works.
They will proclaim the power of Your awe-inspiring acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They will give a testimony of Your great goodness
and will joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and great in faithful love.
The LORD is good to everyone; His compassion rests on all He has made."
Psalm 145:1-9
Lord, reveal Your majesty and glory to us as You have to others. We offer You the best seat in the house. Take what is rightfully Yours and keep us from thinking small thoughts of Your divinity and power. Stop us from offering You any seat but the throne You deserve! We bow down in worship to you, Great God.
In the Name of Jesus, Who sits at the right Hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven
